Materials Needed

None. A piano may be used to establish a sense of pitch when needed.

Performance

This piece will be sung with body percussion, and accompanied by the middle elementary class on pitched percussion instruments and rhythm sticks. The campers need to be able to sing this song a cappella as there will not be a melodic accompaniment.

Teaching the Lyrics

Teach the song using any commonly accepted rote or echo technique and continue until campers can confidently sing the entire song.

Teaching the Movements

The body percussion accompaniment will include a repeated four-beat phrase shown above. Campers will need extended practice in keeping a steady beat, and with the coordination of clapping with the persons to their right and left.
